However, he will probably reserve much of his fury for Lukasz Fabianski after Arsenals stand-in goalkeeper had a nightmare game. The Pole, in for the injured Manuel Almunia, was culpable for both Porto goals pushing Silvestre Varelas low cross into his own net after 11 minutes and then mindlessly picking up a Sol Campbell back-pass after the interval in the build-up to the home teams hotly disputed second goal. In between, Campbell equalised with his second goal in as many matches for Arsenal in Europe three-and-a-half years after his last in the 2006 Champi- ons League final against Barcelona. But it was Portos second goal in the 52nd minute which sent Wenger over the edge. It came when Fabianski picked up Campbells pass. Referee Martin Hansson gave an indirect free-kick and, while Arsenals players were still disputing the decision, Ruben Micael fed the ball to Falcao to slot home. That sent Wenger into a rage on the touchline, his mood not helped by the fact Tomas Rosicky had just had a pen- alty shout turned down when Alvaro Pereira appeared to trip him. Earlier, it was Rosicky who set up Campbells 18th-minute equaliser, nod- ding Samir Nasris corner back across goal for the defender to head home. And despite the result, that goal may yet prove crucial in this tie. The match, originally scheduled for December but postponed because of wintry weather, got off to a slow start with the hosts having the best of the few chances. Charles NZogbia came closest to a breakthrough after cutting inside two defenders on 20 minutes only to see his curling effort clip the post. The hosts suffered a blow shortly after the break when defender Titus Bramble limped out of the game to be replaced by striker Jason Scotland. But the change did little to deter the Latics, who continued to have the best of the possession, with Hugo Rodallega and Scotland both going close as they pushed for a late winner. Picture:EPA Net loss: Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski looks on despairingly after turning the ball into his own goal to gift Porto the lead last night LIVERPOOL and Fulham are both in Europa League action tonight but be careful backing the Reds because they have been spotty at best in Europe and are worth avoiding against Unirea Urziceni. But the Cottagers look strong at 17/10 with BetChronicle at home to Shakhtar Donetsk, who are finishing a winter break. Benfica, top of the table in Portugal, are worth a punt at 11/10 with Boylesports and Ladbrokes at Hertha Berlin, who are struggling at the foot of the Bundesliga. THE TIPSTER Rooney refuses to rest on his laurels WAYNE ROONEY will not waste any time lingering on the plaudits showered on him following his Champions League heroics against AC Milan. Rooney produced an awesome performance described by Sir Alex Ferguson as devastating as he scored twice to send Manchester United to a 3-2 win which stunned the San Siro. Milan, winners of the European Cup on seven occasions, just could not contain the England striker, who was hailed as world class by United boss Ferguson before the first leg of the last-16 tie. Rooney is desperate to become even better and insisted he wont let all the praise turn his head. If people are saying nice things about me that is good but I am not really listening too much, he said. I am not really focusing on that side of things. I know exactly what I need to keep doing. I just want to keep playing well. Rooney already has 25 goals this term, the most prolific tally in his career, with ten from his last eight matches. Ferguson has set him a modest total of 30 this season but Rooney added: I dont know how far I can go with my scoring. I am delighted to have scored two goals in such a big game, two headers as well. Hopefully I can keep it up. Wigan: Kirkland, Melchiot, Caldwell, Bramble (Scotland 51), Figueroa, Scharner, McCarthy, Diame, NZogbia, Moreno (Moses 80), Rodallega. Bolton: Jaaskelainen, Steinsson, Ricketts, Knight, Robinson, Lee (Weiss 70), Muamba, Gardner (Cohen 84), Taylor (Wilshere 87), Elmander, Kevin Davies. Booked: Muamba.
