Timetable change Blame the train: Never on time? Just to highlight Mr Late Agains note. It has been two months now since Irish Rails timetable changed and still it is a complete disaster for commuters. Almost every train I get in the morning from Drogheda to Lansdowne Road is late by at least five minutes. Trains sit in random places on the Northern Line waiting for the Dart to pass through its stops. Not one single alteration or extra service has been put in place to improve the Dundalk-Drogheda- Dublin route and yet Barry Kenny will presumably stand over all his services and statistics and pretend theres nothing wrong with them whatsoever. Dream on Barry! I wonder how he would feel if his working hours increased and family life decreased, all because of a slow-moving Dart up ahead? Mr 4-hours-a-day commuter I have to agree with Furious Commuter, the schedule of the Dart during the week is poor and needs to be totally reviewed to accommodate commuters. Also the Maynooth train that is supposed to arrive in Connolly at 7.35am is late every morning, with the train stopping for five minutes between Drumcondra and Connolly stations. This extra five minutes delay means I miss my connection with the 7.39am northside Dart and have to wait 20 minutes for the next one meaning I am late for work. Can a spokesman in Irish rail explain how that Maynooth train never arrives on time? If this delay cant be rectified why is the timetable not updated to reflect the true arrival time Dublins best-read letters page Mailbox E-mail letters to mail@metroherald.ie with a name. Or text us. Perhaps we would do well to follow the advice of Dustin Hoffmans character in the movie Meet The Fockers, who lived on an island in Florida where water was in short supply: If its yellow let it mellow, if its brown flush it down. LR Early bird: To CPM: Im sick of people blaming the buses on everything. I agree the Dart timetable is excellent, I use it myself to work but remember it has no traffic to deal with. Dublin Bus are doing their best to keep the city moving, so if youre late for work once or twice a week, dont blame the buses just get your lazy ass out of bed earlier and catch an earlier bus. Bus Driver, Ringsend Rocked: This is in response to the We Will Rock You review in last weeks Metro Herald. I dont know what show they saw but the one on Saturday night was unreal. The power that came off the stage was electrifying. I have seen many a musical in the West End and Ireland and this was definitely among the best. Pleased theatre-goer In Brief and the impact this has on connections? TH To Stephen Jones, I know what you are saying, this world or most of the people on it anyway, are under some illusion this is a mans world and women are being discriminated against. Well, I ask, car insurance, cheaper for women? Women-only taxi companies? You hear of domestic abuse, men are always assumed to be the abuser. Some clubs dont charge women but do charge men an admission fee. Where has the thought of equality gone? Karl OD I have to say seeing Jean Traceys face plastered over the front pages of some newspapers regarding the Eamon Lillis case left me feeling that it was very distasteful, and oversteps the boundaries of what can be regarded as informative journalism. I do not know Jean Tracey but I do know she is not the one on trial for the murder of Celine Cawley. Should she really be made out to be the person the media is portraying her to be, just because she had an affair? B Sendusyour txt To CPM, do you really think the Dart runs as advertised? I get the train from Sutton to Connolly every day, there is a train at 7:18 and none until 7:52, please tell me where the 15 mins apart is. Unless you mean a train passing through the station in the opposite direction! Grayfox Am I the only one confused by the rules of the All Ireland Talent Show? Wild cards, points from judges, extra points for points you get off judges it all sounds like a Gift Grub skit. What a waste of licence-payers money. Bring back the box with Keith Duffy. Gav Mr Late Again, why not get the 101 bus in the mornings? It would be quicker getting into town from Drogheda than the slow train! Sle, Dublin Fish-hook, surely Janet was joking when she suggested humans be microchipped like her cat? Big Brother Stephen, regarding the Beckham incident, I completely agree with you. If a man did the same thing he would be arrested.
