Why learn Spanish or Portuguese with Agata Calvo? A degree with a difference The International College Dublin: The college promises students a more intimate experience through lower class numbers and exciting extra-curricular activities M any students dont want to be just a number in a system, as is the case with most other colleges. At the International College Dublin (ICD), the student is part of a family. Career Progression Located in the heart of Dublin city, ICD caters to both Irish and international students alike, promising to deliver the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in a modern business environment. Qualifications are recognised by the National Framework of Qualifications of Ireland (NFQI) and also by the main professional bodies governing the particular educational field (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, and MII). All qualifications are recognised internationally. Classes will never exceed 40 students, ensuring each student receives the attention they require. In terms of qualifications, ICD brings students from certificate right up to honours degree level. ICD offers an honours degree in Accounting & Finance, which is validated by Hetac (Higher Education and Awards Council). This is a joint venture between ICD and BBP Professional Education, the leading professional accountancy college in Ireland and the UK. This course allows students entry into the professional accountancy programmes of all the main professional accountancy bodies with further access to MA programmes. This degree can be completed in three years full-time study or over four to five years part-time. ICD also offers a Hetac BA (Honours) Business Studies degree which can be taken full-time over four years including one years work experience or on a part-time basis. In the final year of this degree, the student may decide on one of four career pathways; e-business, finance, marketing or human resource management. ICDs Higher National Diplomas are also very popular among mature students. These two-year courses allow the student who may be out of the studying environment for a number of years an opportunity to re- engage with an academic qualification and earn credits that can be used towards exemptions from the degree programmes. Many mature students may be unaware that they can apply to the college for credit for both previous qualifications (APL) and previous work and life experience (APEL). This system can significantly reduce the number of years a mature student will need to gain a qualification. ICD promises the college experience in a familiar, personal environment while providing students with the skills and knowledge to propel them far in their chosen career path. Parties, Barbeques and Trips Part of the experience for the ICD student is obviously academic, but students are also encouraged to participate in the extra-curricular activities. These include trips to places of historical interest and scenic beauty. Events such as summer barbeques and Christmas parties are organised and are free to all ICD students. European Travel Each year the college organises trips to different European locations. Groups of up to 50 students travel each year to locations in Italy and Spain, allowing students experience European cities and culture. This year, students can discover the delights of Portugal, with visits to Estoril, Obidos, Alco Baca and Nazare. ICD will arrange visas for students for these trips. All trips include fully guided excursions.
