10 News Friday, January 22, 2010 D worlddigest Sadistic boy, 11, stopped torture as arms ached By Ellen OReilly A BOY of 11 tortured two other youngsters in a wood- ed ravine and only stopped because his arms were ach- ing, a court heard yesterday. And the boy said he and his 10-year-old brother only carried out their 90-minute assault because they were bored and had nothing else to do. In police interviews, the older brother was asked how close he thought he and his brother had come to killing either or both of their victims. Out of ten, he said perhaps eight or nine. One told police the sight of blood pouring from his victims gaping wound was horrible, adding: I dont like looking at other peoples blood. The other boy also said he was nearly sick at the sight of so much blood. When questioned about why they had tortured the young boys, the 11-year-old said he had been bored. When asked why he had stopped the torture, the boy answered he didnt want to do it anymore because his arms were aching. Ratko Dronjak, 47, commander of a detention camp in Kamenica, and Dragan Rodic, 46, a prison guard there, are expected to be tried by the Bosnian war crimes court. The elder boy replied: No. I cant see and I cant move my body. He went on: You go and Ill just die here. Peter Kelson, representing the elder brother, said his client had watched extreme horror films at home. These included two of the Saw movies, which feature ultra- violent scenes of torture and characters who have to choose between hacking off their own limbs or dying. The barrister said the youngster also had access to his fathers pornographic DVDs. On Wednesday, the families of the victims sobbed as Sheffield Crown Court was shown a mobile phone clip of part of the violence filmed by one of the brothers. Judge Mr Justice Keith heard the victims were stran- gled, smashed with bricks, forced to eat nettles, stripped and forced to sexually abuse each other. The boys were then moved to another spot where a clothes line was used in an attempt to strangle the younger boy. It was wound around his neck three times and pulled tight. One brother asked: Are you dying now? The elder boy was seriously injured when pieces of a ceramic sink were dropped on his head.
