IT OCCURS to us that we havent gone into an in- depth discussion of cats and their grand position in the pantheon of the internet for... oooh, several days now. Let us rectify that without any delay. As anybody knows, cats are the major driving force of internet culture but as animator, songsmith and internet hero Joel Veitch points out in his new video, cats are actually central to the fundamental architecture of the web. In The Internet Is Made Of Cats, Veitch traces the history of the Cat Information Superhighway starting with bonsai kittens, and end with an almost religious homage to Maru, the box-wrangling cat-god of the internets second Cat Golden Age. The lad Veitch is, of course, one of the people who can be most held to blame for the irresistible rise of cat-kind in the world of the internet, having been animating kittens to the amusement of slack-jawed web onlookers for the best part of a decade now. But this also makes him something of an expert on the subject, of course, which means that everything he says about it is true.
