Gong: Gifted actress Saoirse Ronan is lined- up for yet another award Run will be muddy good fun Murder trial hears Garda statements from accused THE murder trial of Eamonn Lillis, accused of killing his wife, yesterday heard details of the statements he gave to garda. The 52-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Celine Cawley at their home on Windgate Road in Howth on December 15 last year while their daughter was at school. The statements describe how Lillis came home to find a burglar attacking the 46-year-old mother of one, a story he previously admitted was a com- plete fabrication. The day after his wife died, Lillis told detectives she must have dis- turbed a burglar and given chase. Ce- line is a fighter, a tough nut. She would have confronted someone. She wasnt a wallflower, he said. Lillis had claimed he discovered the burglar after returning home from walking his dogs.
