WHEN you think of sources of musical inspiration, your thoughts might not immediately turn to James Camerons robot action classic Terminator 2. But thats because you havent yet heard a track composed entirely of sounds sampled from the movie. The track titled Skynet Symphonic is by Pogo, an Australian artist whos made a name for himself with his micro-mixes. These tracks are created using nothing but sounds from specific movies or scenes. In the past, hes made tunes from movies such as Mary Poppins and Harry Potter And The Philosophers Stone. On his YouTube page, Pogo explains where some of the sounds come from: The Terminator pounding on the fire escape door is used as a kick drum. Bones breaking play the role of a snare. Electrical disturbance acts as a crash cymbal. Its not the first Terminator 2-themed track weve featured in recent times, either our regular readers may remember The Anomalies superb hip-hop retelling of everyones favourite future-melty-robot story from October.
