D Tuesday, December 8, 2009 METRO 11 BY ROSS McDONAGH Final an all-male affair as Bill fires Geraldine THE final of The Apprentice will be an all Steve affair, with Messrs Rayn- er and Higgins left to face-off for Bills attentions after Geraldine OCallaghan was fired last night. Instead of the usual team-based tasks, the three remaining hopefuls faced tough individual interviews from a panel made up of psychologist Sheena Clohessy, media mogul Gavin Duffy, and Brightwaters recruitment experts, managing director David Bloch and director Mairead Fleming. The four grilled the candidates to such a temperature that skel- etons began leaping out of the closet. Geraldine (pictured) scored Breffny, Steve Rayner is a reformed alcoholic and gambler, and Stephen Higgins ego is in an atmosphere of its own. But there is only one aspect of each candidates past that Bill Cullen is re- ally interested in, and thats experience and sadly for Geraldine, hers was found wanting. Geraldine has grown with every sin- gle task, said Ms Fleming. Shes also extremely hard-working and given a few years corporate experience, would be an excellent apprentice to Bill, she said, adding, shes definitely going to learn from this experience. A SUSPECTED thief was left flummoxed after receiving some odd advice: Always blow on the pie. Sgt Guy Baldwin spotted a wanted man strolling up a road and was told: I was just going up the road to get me a pie or something. To which Sgt Baldwin replied: Its three oclock in the morning and youre buying a pie... what must you always do? Cue puzzlement. The officer continued: At three oclock in the morning, that pie has been in the warming draw for probably about 12 hours, itll be thermo-nuclear. You must always blow on the pie. Always blow on the pie, safer communities together, OK. The baffling exchange was filmed for New Zealand TV show Police 10-7 and has become a YouTube and Facebook hit, with the pie line spawning rap songs, music remixes and even a South Park-style homage. Sgt Baldwin said: I was speaking... using a bit of humour. Unfortunately, he didnt get it. Police! Stop! Just blow on the pie A NEW price comparison website could be music to the ears of iPod owners.
