It predicts that today, dubbed Manic Monday, will be Irelands busiest online shopping day, a week after other European nations. Some 112,000 Irish consumers are expected to shop on eBay.ie today. This year, 69 per cent of Irish people are predicted to shop online, while the average spent on presents is 206, compared with 234 last year. The pair were part of a group in exile for part of the series, which meant mea- gre rations of rice and beans. A lack of meat prompted the contest- ants to apparently catch, kill and eat the rodent. DAcampo, 33, told the shows video diary: I saw one of these rats running around. I got a knife, I got its throat, I picked it up. The exiled group, including 30-year- old Manning, ate the rat. David OShannessy from the RSPCA in New South Wales said it was not ac- ceptable that an animal was killed as part of a performance: There is a code of conduct in New South Wales that dic- tates how animals can be used, he said. The charity sends staff whenever ani- mals are used for filmed or live perform- ances, he said, and so had been in con- tact with the programmes producers before the rat was killed. When they were told what had hap- pened, they decided to take action. A spokesman for New South Wales Police said: Police issued field court at- tendance notices to two men for the of- fence of animal cruelty.
