The worlds best golfer made an as- tonishing apology for his personal sins and failings but stopped short of explaining what exactly happened at his Florida home last Friday morning. Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree and was found semi-con- scious with injuries to his face. He has since been given a ticket for careless driving and faces a fine of $164 (110). However, things got worse for the 33-year-old yesterday when a US ce- lebrity magazine posted an audio clip online of what was purported to be Woods telling cocktail waitress Jaimee Grubbs, 24, to take her name off her voicemail message. She claims to have had a 31-month long affair with the golfer. In the message, a voice is heard say- ing: Hey, its Tiger. I need you to do me a huge favour. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you. On his website yesterday, the 33- year-old said: I have let my family down and I regret those transgres- sions with all of my heart. Celebrity website TMZ claims Woods crashed his car after his wife, Elin Nordegren, 29, chased after the vehicle with a golf club when the pair rowed about reports he had an affair with nightclub hostess Rachel Uchi- tel, 34. Both parties deny the affair. However, Ms Nordegren told police she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the vehicle to free her in- jured husband. He denied rumours that physical violence played any role in the inci- dent, saying they were utterly false and malicious.
