But it wasnt because he fired his Taser at the child after she kicked him. Instead officer Dustin Bradshaw lost his job yesterday because he failed to use the camera attached to his gun. Police chief Jim Noggle in Ozark, Arkansas, said: Its the officers duty to ensure all of his equipment is in working order. The unnamed girl was not injured. Survivor: Squirt the kitten has used up at least one of his nine lives after a lucky escapePicture: DSPCA Kiss of life saves kitty left to drown in river THE DSPCA has witnessed one of the most bru- tal days of animal mistreatment in its history. In three separate incidents, three kittens, four puppies and a pregnant dog were dumped and left to die. Early yesterday, three kittens were found in the Tolka River in North Dublin, tied into a plastic bag and left to drown. A good Samaritan out with his dog found the helpless creatures and attempted to revive them by administering CPR, but only one survived. Later, a plastic bag containing four young pups was pulled from the Dodder River on Dub- lins southside. Luckily, all four survived, and are recovering in the Dublin SPCA shelter. Also, a pregnant pitbull/staffie cross-breed was found dumped in a ditch in Ballinascorney in Tallaght, severely underweight and suffering from a number of injuries. She subsequently gave birth to two dead pups at the shelter and is currently in a very poor con- dition being cared for by the veterinary team. We are appalled and disgusted by what has happened to these poor animals. It is a horren- dous way to treat helpless creatures, said Jimmy Cahill chief executive of the DSPCA. Thank God for those caring members of the public who found these animals and sought help, we are so grateful to them for rescuing these helpless victims. The fortunate kitten, since named Squirt, and the four rescued pups will be fostered until they are big enough to be rehomed. BY ROSS McDONAGH
