The golf star, who was found semi-conscious and with facial injuries after smashing his car into a tree and fire hydrant, cancelled a meeting with police for the third time yesterday. But the 33-year-old said: This situation is my fault and its obviously embarrassing to my family and me. Im human and Im not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesnt happen again. The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false. Woods suffered cuts to his face in the crash outside his 1.5million villa in Florida at 2.25am on Friday. His wife, Elin Nordegren, told police she used a golf club to smash the window of her husbands Ca- dillac Escalade 4x4 to free him. Yesterday, gossip websites claimed the two had a violent row during Thanksgiving dinner over claims he had cheated on her. US newspapers said they had copies of text messages Woods was supposed to have sent to a lover. Woods wife, 29, was alleged to have scratched him and chased him from the house, hitting his car with the club before the crash. Yesterday, father-of-two Woods said: I have some cuts, bruising and right now Im pretty sore. The many false, unfounded and malicious rumours that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible. However, he cancelled a meeting with police for the third day in a row. Officers confirmed the windows of Woods car, were not smashed in the crash.
