The playful puppy pounced on the squirrel kit- ten and pinned it under its paws. But its mothers maternal instincts kicked in and she jumped from a tree, landed on the stunned dogs head and started to bite with all her strength. The fight for survival continued until she was sure her baby was safe. The supermum then hot- footed it back to the safety of a high tree to a grateful family. The pair were last seen holding on to each other high in the branches, while the mournful dog looked on from the ground, unable to pursue its prey and reflecting on its unexpected defeat by an embarrassingly small foe. As the hands on the clock above this frisky couple show, their antics took place in the middle of the afternoon. Everyone in the area started to look up and point, laugh and grin, said a bystander who took pictures of the al fresco lovers. From the looks of it, the couple seemed to know they could be seen and seemed completely unfazed. So far, the identities of the pair remain unknown, although newspapers in Australia have urged them to come forward and show themselves. With their clothes on, of course. Is it that time?
