D Friday, November 20, 2009 METRO What they say on Facebook Before Thierry Henrys fingerprints had even dried on the ball, furious Irish fans were online Photoshopping, Facebooking and generally foaming at the mouth. Dozens of Facebook groups were created within minutes of the final whistle, some extreme (Chop Thierry Henrys Hand Off With A Guillotine) and some serious (Boycott Gillette Products Until It Drops Cheat Thierry Henry). Here is a selection of wall posts: Robert Cox: He is a cheat. When the time came, he cheated. For such a great player, it is such a great shame. Ed Walsh: Ban him from the group stages of the World Cup! Cooper John: If Keane did it at the other end, nobody would want a replay. Blame the ref and linesman. Probably feels a bit like when England got knocked out by the fat Argentinian drug addict of Gods hand. Cest la vie! Hugh McAvinue: Fifa stitch-up. Libert, galit et fraternit my arse. The French papers are ashamed of you. Resign in shame you toss-pot! Ron Legge (in French): A captain is expected to act with the highest integrity and you are the person which people... aspire to be. Gareth O Neill: There was nothing instinctive about that he bloody handled it twice! Why did Fifa do everything they could to make sure France could be in South Africa? They are rubbish and wont add anything to the world cup. Platini, youre an a**hole too! Conrad Shields: Henry is one of the most respected players (of all time). What kind of example does this show to impressionable young people? This sort of behaviour is a cancer on the game. Patrick Barron: The Swedish ref should never act as a ref in any World Cup or Sunday league football game for the rest of his life! Dave Coleman: An off-side and two hand balls in five seconds... Fifa have a lot to answer to. As for that p***k, dont get me started. Big smiley f***in head on him and then they show Barthez and Zidan in the crowd laughing! Creative uproar: The internet was alive to the sound... of keyboards being pounded and the fury of multiple clicks as fans expressed dismay
