Its been a gruelling few weeks for the Boyzone singer following Stephen Gatelys untimely death but the show must go on and an indefatigable Keating will take the stage at the new, Daniel Libeskind-designed Grand Canal Theatre in March. Here a dozen or so horny crustaceans were mounting each other in what appeared to be some kind of shellfish bacchanal. I couldnt, to my shame, look away even when it appeared that the unfortunate fellow on the bottom of a three-way pile-up looked if not dead, then certainly unconscious. Still, given their impending fate (being dropped alive into a vat of boiling water), it was understandable they were getting what they could while they could. This is Ouzos third and, presumably, most successful incarnation. The seafood restaurant began life in Baggot Street and later cast its net into Ranelagh but while those branches are now defunct, its Dalkey manifestation is reeling them in. The slim-line dining room contains a few comfy banquettes, a smattering of fiery abstract paintings and, over our table, a rack of fine wines that was frustratingly out of reach. And if the crowd who thronged here on this miserable Monday night was anything to go by, the management has stumbled upon a recipe for success that involves more than simply playing host to a gripping lobster orgy. The bread always a good indication of a kitchens worth was superb. Two miniature cheese scones were warm and lightly salted while the doorsteps of chunky, moist brown were flawless. Shame he hadnt the foresight to save some for his starter. It would have been perfect for dipping in the white wine sauce that accompanied a large and superb portion of Galway Bay mussels sprinkled with lobster chunks and crab claws. Meanwhile, my roasted Portobello mushroom starter with spinach stuffing was lightly grilled and sinewy if a little under-seasoned. For my main course, I bagged the last W remaining red mullet which was served on the bone with sides of rosti, fennel and an interesting chick pea number. Once the spine had been removed, the flesh proved plentiful but unfortunately the mullet had spent a few too many minutes under the grill and was verging on the dehydrated. A cross the table, the fish pie was far more successful: an individual pot so chock-full of marine life he was tempted to pen a sea shanty in its honour. Juicy pieces of organic salmon and haddock were flapping for space under a creamy potato shell alongside cracking pieces of lobster, prawn and crab meat. The side of chips remained all but untouched not because they werent If the crowd who thronged here on this miserable Monday night was anything to go by, the management has stumbled upon a recipe for success... Which of the following was a hit for Steve Earle? A. Galway Girl B. Dublin Mot The winners of yesterdays tickets to see War Of The Worlds are: Samantha Kenny & Andrea Prendergast How did you come up with the name? Marchesa Casati was a crazy and notorious Italian heiress in the early 20th century. She is one of my idols in life. She was obsessed with exotic animals. She wore snakes as accessories and would walk around naked except for furs and some cheetahs on a leash. She owned a mechanical panther, which is something to be admired in my opinion. She also inspired the famed Panther collection for Cartier. So the name is a tribute to her. We wanted a ridiculous name and putting Vengeance in front of Panther Queen sounded suitably ridiculous to us. How would you describe your sound? Like Britney doing Misfits songs or Kiss doing songs by Justice. Or The Birthday Party doing songs by The Carpenters. Or Guns N Roses doing Sister Sledge songs. Or Bad Brains playing Madonna songs mixed by Daft Punk. Its a weird mix of stuff but its pretty poppy while at the same time being quite nasty and abrasive. Are you nervous about playing live? Im nervous but excited. Were rushing to finish some new material, but it sounds great so far. Our sound has been evolving and changing very rapidly which is cool but also nerve-wracking. Ive been told the more nervous you are, the better the gig. But thats probably rubbish. Whats it like collaborating with Republic Of Looses Mik Pyro? Hes written a lot
