D Friday, November 13, 2009 METRO A family freeze frame Heres one for the penguin holiday album... and dont they look chummy by AidAn RAdnedge COME ON now, son stop flapping about, look straight at the camera and say: Freeze! Getting youngsters to pose properly for a picture is not just a human prob- lem, it seems. These posers near the South Pole appear to want one for the family al- bum when lining up in front of the camera. While inquisitive Emperor penguins peer through the viewfinder, a proud dad shows off his profile as mum tries to get her chicks to stand still. The penguins were humbling, hi- larious, extremely curious and won- derfully photogenic, said 53-year- old photographer David Schultz, who captured the scene. It quickly became obvious the penguins were as interested in us as we were in them, he added. I remember one of the birds stayed behind the camera as the others moved to the front. With their heads stretched out, it seriously seemed as if they were posing. Mr Schultz, from Utah in the US, has been warned to stop photogra- phy after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. But he said: Should the loss of my vision ever become an issue, I will have all of these images forever in my mind.
