22 METROSPORT Tuesday, November 10, 2009 D CHELSEA have been rocked by an injury to England left-back Ashley Cole which could mean a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Cole has been diagnosed with a depressed fracture of the tibia after aggravating the problem prior to Sundays 1-0 home victory over Manchester United. The former Arsenal defender missed three games after initially sustaining the injury in the 4-0 home Champions League win against Atletico Madrid last month. Cole was back for the return game last week but needed a painkilling injection in order to play against United at Stamford Bridge. A Chelsea spokesman said: He aggravated the injury before the United match and further injured it during the game. WAynE RoonEy has been warned about his future conduct by the Football Association after appearing to mouth 12th man into a television camera following Manchester Uniteds defeat by Chelsea. The United striker made the comment as he left the pitch at Stamford Bridge. An FA spokesman said: Wayne Rooney has been warned as to his future conduct following remarks made yesterday. Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson will not face any action following his criticism of referee Martin Atkinson after Sundays clash at Stamford Bridge. The United boss condemned the decision to award the free- kick that led to Chelseas winning goal as absolutely ridiculous and said such decisions mean people lose faith in refereeing. The Blues led from the front when they clinched the title in 2005 and 2006 and the england captain be- lieves setting the pace could be the key again this time around.
