Rafael Benitezs side looked set for the win which would have revived their European campaign after Ryan Babels stunning 83rd-minute strike. But Lyon playmaker Lisandro raced on to a Cris flick to calmly slot past Jose Reina to take Liverpools fate in this competition out of their hands. The point takes Lyon through and the equation for Benitezs side is simple they must win their final two games away at Debrecen and at home to Fiorentina and hope the Italians do not beat Lyon in their next match. Anything else and they are out. The Merseysiders were beset by injury problems going into this tie. But Daniel Agger returned from a back problem and Fernando Torres, although not 100 per cent fit, started. Liverpool had three gilt-edged chances to score in the first-half. But Hugo Lloris denied Torres, Dirk Kuyt and Andriy Vorinin. Lloris again denied Lucas after the break, with Reina doing the same to keep out Lisandro. Babel came off the bench in the 68th minute and the Holland strikers stunning long-range strike gave Lloris no chance. But Lisandro then struck at the death to leave Liverpools European hopes hanging by a thread. Tough times: Benitez PREmIER LEaguE AN injury-time winner from substitute Zavon Hines saw West Ham climb out of the relegation zone with a last-gasp victory at Upton Park. Gianfranco Zolas men grabbed their first home win of the season as the Hammers moved up to 16th place to seal a night of frustration for Villa. Ashley Young had earlier made up for a glaring second-half penalty miss with a stunning equaliser as Villa looked to pile the pressure on the struggling hosts. The winger had seen his spot-kick well saved by the outstanding England keeper Robert Green just after the interval. But he made amends in dramatic fashion, seconds later, when he cut in from the left and curled a speculative strike over Greens head and into the far corner on 52 minutes. Mark Noble had given the Londoners the lead on the stroke of half-time from the spot. Yet with both Young and Gabriel Agbonlahor missing a hatful of chances Villa hopes of leapfrogging Manchester City and breaking into the top four were shattered with a late sucker punch. Scott Parker played the ball in from the left and Hines coolly slotted home to give the Hammers three points. West Ham: Green, Behrami, Upson, Faubert, Ilunga (Spector 8), Da Costa, Parker, Noble, Collison, Franco (Jimenez 88), Cole (Hines 32). Fortune came on as a second-half substitute in Saturdays 3-0 SPL win over Kilmarnock, his first action since injuring his knee in August. With just one point from three games, the Hoops need a victory to have a realistic chance of qualifying from Group C. Consequently, Celtic boss Mowbray will have to decide whether former Nancy striker Fortune is worth risking. Marco is fit and ready, Mowbray said. Hes been out for nine weeks and got 20 minutes or half an hour the other day. Am I tempted to play him? yes. The more high-quality players on the pitch, the better it is. So we will wait and see what we decide. EuROPa LEaguE Toure draws a line KOLO TOuRE admits Manchester City need to learn how to win matches again if they are to stand any chance of gatecrashing the top four. Sunday saw City pick up a fourth draw in a row at Birmingham, leaving them fourth in the Premier League table, eight points off leaders Chelsea. And skipper Toure, 28, said: City is not the team it was before, a lot of things have changed and our mentality has to change as well. We cannot be happy drawing four games in a row. sOCCER CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Lee eyes early return SUNdERLANd boss Steve Bruce believes Lee Cattermole could return from injury earlier than expected. The midfielder was ruled out for three months after suffering medial ligament damage nearly three weeks ago. But Bruce says Cattermole could surprise medics. Cattermole being Cattermole, I would think he will be back more quickly than the doctors have predicted, he said. The kind of person he is, I feel he might be out for eight weeks rather than 12. moyes on mission DAVID MOyES is determined his Everton side will restore their battered reputation in Europe tonight. Benfica arrive at Goodison Park after inflicting a 5-0 Europa League defeat on Moyes side in Lisbon. Moyes said: We do not use the word revenge but pride is at stake. We are hurting from the Benfica game. Hopefully we can do something about it. We want to progress in the group. We are going to have a go and get a result. But we have to play much better than we did in Lisbon.
