GROUP B Owen: Im only focused on my career at United MICHAEL OWEN may get the chance to thrust himself back into the England spotlight by starting tonights Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow but he insists an international recall is at the back of his mind. Owen is likely to get the nod at Old Trafford as fellow Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney became a father yesterday for the first time when wife Coleen gave birth to baby son Kai Wayne. Rooney could well be desperate to play in order to score and mark the occasion in perfect style. But it is more likely he will not be risked in the Group B match with United almost certain to qualify for the knockout stages anyway. And Owen insists if he starts he is only worried about scoring goals for United and is not pining for an England recall. Since his shock summer transfer from Newcastle, speculation has been ongoing over his exile from international duty. Fabio Capello has described the debate as his torment, which could either relate to internal inde- cision or irritation at the subjects refusal to be silenced. But now Owen has attempted to do the job himself by insisting he Fergie puts faith in back-up duo Sir Alex Ferguson insists he has every faith in back-up centre-halves Wes Brown and Jonny evans ahead of the visit of CSKA Moscow tonight. The teams meet in the Champions league with United missing rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic through injury, leaving boss Ferguson (pictured) to turn to Brown and evans for the games with CSKA and possibly Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier league. Ferguson said: i have no worries about Sunday in terms of Brown and evans absolutely no worries at all. is fully concentrated on his club career. The 29-year-old former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker said: Eng- land is something I dont really think about. It is probably some- thing people talk about a lot more than I think about really. The last squad I was in was over a year ago now. I have played for England 89 times and I would love to play for England again. But I am concentrating on playing for Man- chester United. I genuinely go to bed thinking that I have got to play well the next day and win games for United, not that if I score or play well I might get picked for England. And he added: One of the draws of coming to a club like [this] is that you are always competing at the top level. There were many things that stuck in my mind when I was first asked to come and join the club but one of the big things was the chance to play on big Champions League nights and to play in top Premier League games. The ivory Coast striker returns after an absence of three Champions league matches when the Blues visit Atletico Madrid looking to strengthen their position at the top of Group D. The 31-year-old was forced to serve a three- match ban by Uefa following his foul- mouthed confrontation with referee Tom Henning Ovrebo at the end of Chelseas semi-final defeat by Barcelona in May. He already has nine Premier league goals this season and boss Ancelotti said: i didnt know what happened [last season]. i saw what happened. i didnt speak with him about this. i told him to prepare for his return tomorrow. Tomorrow he will return to work for the team and he is ready to work. Although Drogba has been prolific in the Premier league, Ancelottis team have done well without him in europe and victory in Spain would see them qualify for the knockout stages and probably finish on top of the group.
