Martinez has also contacted Steve Bruce, Sam allardyce and Rafael Benitez after they were also implicated in the article. The Spaniard felt the need to clear the air after categorically denying he suggested the Fa are afraid to punish United boss Ferguson. Martinez said: Those managers have probably been in this situation and know how things work. i have had a lot of support in that respect. To speak about other managers you need to win the league. But it is not in my nature to be outspoken. it was suggested the 36-year-old claimed Ferguson had faithful followers in Bruce and allardyce while Benitez was the target of con- stant sniping. Martinez added: i have the ut- most respect for Sir alex Ferguson, Sam allardyce, Steve Bruce and Rafael Benitez. Sir alex is probably the best manager in the world while Steve has worked under him and we have a good relationship as he worked at Wigan before me. as for Sam, i respect his achieve- ments and what he has done in the Premier League. i also respect Rafa as he is one of the most successful Spanish man- agers ever. it is important they all know i was very disappointed with the sto- ries that were circulating. Meanwhile, Martinez expects Maynor Figueroa to be out for up to seven weeks with a knee injury. The Honduras full-back suffered the setback at the weekend in the victory against Burnley at Turf Moor. The Latics boss said: it is not as bad as we feared at the beginning. He will be out for between six and seven weeks. Lescott, 27, scored his first goal for the club in Wednesdays 5-1 carling cup drubbing of Scunthorpe and said: i feel i am settling into citys defence with every passing game. The longer you play alongside people the better and easier it gets. We havent kept a clean sheet for a number of games now so that is the first objective. Currently a point clear of Dublin rivals shamrock Rovers, Bohs could seal back-to-back titles if the hoops slip up against Galway United in their clash at Tallaght stadium. a winning run of four games has Bohemians in the right mood but manager pat Fenlon but must plan without central defender Ken oman (pictured) with a calf strain. however, Jason mcGuinness, owen heary and mark Rossiter could all return after recovering from injuries. shamrock Rovers boss michael oneill has a full-strength squad available for the visit of Galway, with winger paddy Kavanagh expected to return after playing in a reserve team game on monday. after losing the title initiative with a home defeat by Cork City a fortnight ago, oneill was happy to see his team bounce back away to Dundalk at oriel park last week. There is still a lot to play for and every game on Friday has a lot hinging on it ours is no different, said oneill.
