Television What To Watch One moment in time: Whitney opens up to Oprah Todays highlights With Adam Hyland Pick Of The Day Oprah Meets Whitney: The First Interview TV3, 9pm TV3 get the scoop with the European premiere of the much-anticipated Oprah interview with Whitney Houston. According to Oprahs people, it is a jaw- dropping, open, honest and candid interview with the legendary singer. Covering her early career, rise to stardom, her torrid 14-year marriage to Bobby Brown and her descent into drug addiction, it promises to be fascinating. Houston is on the ascent again with a new album (see our review on page 17), but to give Oprah credit, she doesnt let this turn into a plug for it. Stone, 20, has since appeared in The Rocker and The House Bunny. She stars with Woody Harrelson in new movie Zombieland Interview by Lesley OToole I got in trouble with the fashion police the other day. Happens any time I try to dress myself, but really, I couldnt care less Youve made six films since Superbad and youre only 20. How did that happen? I loved comedy from a young age because of my dad. He showed me The Jerk, Airplane! and Planes, Trains & Automobiles. We laughed together, it was our thing and thats what made me want to do this. I knew the f*** monologue from Planes by heart by the time I was eight. At 14, you gave a PowerPoint presentation to your parents proposing a move to LA. What was in it? I remember I had some alliteration going on. It was just silly but it worked. They understood the notion of wanting to make people laugh. They took a few days to mull it over but I think it was the passion behind it that convinced them. Youve worked with some huge names, including Bill Murray making a cameo in Zombieland. Yeah but that doesnt really faze you after a while. You stop looking at people and going, Wow! Other than Paul McCartney, I havent really been super-starstruck for a long time. Are The Beatles really your favourite band? Favourite ever. Arent they everybodys? How did you meet Paul McCartney? I knew Woody Harrelson was friends with him and mentioned one day hes the one living person I would just absolutely lose my mind to meet. On the last day of shooting Woody said: Just so you know, were going to Sir Pauls house for dinner. I got into the foetal position, rolled around for a while and then we went. We had dinner with Paul and his girlfriend, Nancy, and hung out all night and played the levitation game, Light as a feather, stiff as a board. It was insane. Were your legs like jelly while you were trying to levitate each other? Well, you just have to keep it together when youre in somebodys home. There are moments when you I look like when I have anti-zit stuff all over my face. Yeah, yeah. Halle Berry always looks rough too. No, you have no idea. I woke up this morning with four white spots on my face. Im 20. Its hormones. Is it true youre a blonde but Judd Apatow asked you to dye your hair red for Superbad and you never went back? True. It grows out and I look bald. Youre obsessed with Charlie Chaplin. Why? At some point, I started getting into Woody Allen and that led me to Charlie Chaplin and City Lights, which is my favourite movie of all time. What keeps you sane? Im not that sane. Im getting back into reading after a long break though. Whats on your bedside table? This is going to sound pretentious but Ayn Rands The Fountainhead is blowing my mind. Its one of those where you feel youre stuck inside the book. Nothing else exists. almost start to forget youre in the presence of a Beatle, and then you remember and feel like youre about to pass out. It was the greatest night of my life. What lessons did you learn from Woody Harrelson? To enjoy your life and understand your job is your job and your life is your life. Fashion is a huge part of a Hollywood starlets life. Any disasters? Always. I went to this thing in New York, decided to dress myself and had no idea what the hell I was doing. I got in trouble with the fashion police. It happens any time I dress myself, but I couldnt care less. You were No.66 in Maxims 100 Sexiest Women poll this year. I know. Its so nice of them to say! Do your friends tease you about that sort of stuff? No! They know what a goofball I am and what 18 metrolife Thursday, October 15, 2009 index.html2.html3.html4.html5.html6.html7.html8.html9.html10.html11.html12.html13.html14.html15.html16.html17.html18.html19.html20.html21.html22.html23.html24.html25.html26.html27.html28.html29.html30.html31.html
