Alan Symes, whose daughter was last seen in an Auckland suburb on Monday evening, told the conference: Aisling is our two-year-old daugh- ter, sister to Caitlin, cousin and beloved niece and granddaughter. We want her back so please if you have any information, any at all, please come forward. He said the last four days were the most har- rowing of our lives. No sleep, its been like were barely existing, surviving every moment not knowing where Aisling is. Mr Symes, a former search and rescue worker from Co Waterford, was joined by his wife An- gela and Inspector Gary Davey, who is leading the police investigation. Mr Davey said more than 40 officers were tak- ing part in the search for Aisling and he was look- ing to increase that number again: Im appealing to anyone with information, no matter how trivial, that it is important to come forward, he added. To whoever has Aisling, the sole focus of po- lice at the moment is to have Aisling returned safely. We hope you come forward and leave her in a safe place where she can be found. He said police had received a number of calls from the public about potential sightings of the toddler but at this stage none had panned out. Earlier, both parents told The New Zealand Herald they were not concerned with whoever had their daughter they just wanted her returned safe and well. Angela Symes cried as she said: Just as long as they are looking after her. Aisling went missing from her deceased grand- parents vacant home, in Longburn Road in the West Auckland suburb of Henderson, which her mother was cleaning. Police, who believe Aisling has been abducted, are looking at any reports of suspicious behav- iour in the area in the past weeks, particularly involving child-related offending. Mr Davey said it was unlikely she had been swept out to sea and that it was possible she was with a stranger. Search: Aisling was last seen on Monday evening. Police fear she has been abducted POLANDS president will sign the Lisbon Treaty over the weekend, a close aide said yesterday, a move that would complete the countrys ratification process and leave the Czech Republic as the only nation left needing to sign. President Lech Kaczynski is likely to sign the treaty on Sunday evening after returning from a visit to the Vatican, said Aleksander Szczyglo, head of the National Security Office. But Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the presidents twin and leader of the largest opposition party in Poland, said Mr Szczyglo was misinformed. Since Ireland approved the treaty, now only Mr Kaczynski and Czech President Vaclav Klaus need to sign the document. Mr Klaus says he is waiting for a ruling from the nations Constitutional Court on a challenge from 17 senators questioning aspects of the charter.
