D Tuesday, October 6, 2009 METRO Peoples choice: Slumdog Millionaire OSCAR-winning hit Slumdog Millionaire proved to be the peoples choice yesterday after being named the best film of the past 12 months in a poll of movie-goers. Danny Boyles hit was voted film of the year at the Digital Spy Movie Awards, which also saw teen vampire smash Twilight named a double winner. Twilight gained best blockbuster beating Watchmen and Harry Potter And the Half Blood Prince while Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, took the prize for best actress. Michael Sheen landed the best actor trophy for his varied roles as Sir David Frost and Brian Clough in Frost/Nixon and The Damned United. Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, starring the US family pop act, was named turkey of the year. The editor-in- chief of bimonthly Brigitte said, starting next year, the magazine will feature prominent women and regular readers in photo spreads.
