Nothing to crow aboutOONAGI the cockerel could be doing some bird if he doesnt keep quiet. The six-month-old has been visited by police after complaints his crowing is too noisy. Owner Maddy Walsh said she received a letter from the council warning her about the noise. Then the police came round, had a word with Oonagi, took down his statement and basically hes been told off for crowing, said Ms Walsh, 21, a security officer. Were in a pretty rural area here. I think its just a waste of police time, really, and theres better things people could be worrying about, added Ms Walsh of Kingston, Kent, England. Former prosecutor lied to judge in Polanski sex caseA FORMER prosecutor says he made up a story he told to a film crew about advis- ing a judge handling Roman Polanskis sex case to send the director to prison. In Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired, David F Wells is depicted as conferring with a trial judge more than 30 years ago about Mr Polanskis case. Mr Wells said in the documentary that the judge took his ad- vice in deciding to renege on a plea bargain and give Mr Polanski more prison time. Mr Wells said he overstated his actions By JACk SyMoNdS after being told the film would not air in the United States. Mr Wells statement on the documentary later became part of the basis for a move by Mr Polanskis attorneys to dismiss the case against the fugitive director, who was recently arrested in Switzerland. Mr Wells, who retired more than two years ago, did not handle Mr Polanskis case but was assigned to the courtroom where it was heard and had frequent inter- actions with the now-deceased trial judge Laurence J Rittenband. They interviewed me in the Malibu courthouse when I was still a DA, and I embellished a story, apologised Mr Wells. Im a guy who cuts to the chase I lied. It embarrasses the hell out of me. Mr Polanski is accused of plying 13- year-old Samantha Geimer with drink and drugs during a modelling shoot in 1977 and then having sex with her. Arrested: Mr Polanski Court backs roaming cap FOUR of Europes largest mobile operators suffered a setback yesterday in their legal battle to stop the EU imposing limits on the cost of using mobile phones abroad. Vodafone, Telefonica O2, T-Mobile and Orange, say the setting of maximum roaming prices should be left to national authorities. But an Advocate General at the European Court of Justice said the EU was right to act, because the Commissions previous attempts to curb high roaming charges through political pressure and competition inquiries had failed.
