Picture:Getty Is there anything you cant do? (Laughs) I dont cook as well as Id like to be able to. And my personal life is not very organised at all. What else would you like to achieve? I dont think its important to tell everybody about my goals and ambitions. A lot of the things Ive been successful in, I havent planned. I live my life by the title of my first book if something comes along and I think itll be fun and Ill learn something, Ill do it. Youll be performing in the Olivier Award-winning La Cage Aux Folles as Albin/Zaza do you dress up around the house? Contrary to what people think gay people have at home, there are no feather boas in mine. Its the first time Ive played a gay character and its more flamboyant than any role Ive had. I arrive, take my jeans off and put on tights and 4in stilettos. Have you had any accidents? been absolutely overwhelmed by the popularity and success of Captain Jack. Are you going to appear on David Tennants final Doctor Who? Ill put it this way Captain Jack will always return to the side of the Doctor when he needs assistance. Youre all over our TV screens. Where do you get recognised the most? All the time here and in the US. Im recognisable walking down the street in the morning from the parking lot to the theatre you can see people doing a double take. How do you feel about that? Some celebs say: I hate it I cant go out without looking good. I absolutely love it. Every morning at 8.30, I get up to move my car in my pyjamas with a sweatshirt on to beat the traffic warden. Im not going to change who I am because fame is the gift that has come along with the work I love doing. Ive heard youre going to be in (Laughs) I taught my sisters and my niece how to walk in high heels. Its in the blood of a gay man. How did your family react to you coming out? There was no problem, really. I was extremely lucky in that respect. Thats not to say it didnt take time for my parents to understand and accept it. They had a lot of questions, and you have to be prepared to answer those questions. But family is really important to the Scottish. I think its a great thing because it gives you even more of an identity. Torchwood has a lot of fans, especially in America. Is it because of your mid-Atlantic drawl? I think its the fact Im portraying somebody people can identify with. Whether its because hes omni-sexual or hes proud of who he is he doesnt give a s*** about what anybody thinks. If I had a formula, I would sell it! Id be handing it out on street corners. Ive Desperate Housewives? I met with the creator when I was last in LA. He said he would like to write a role for me in the series. Thats as far as its gone at the moment. Whats your favourite thing to do? I know I was put on this planet to entertain. That involves stage, TV, writing, doing concerts... so I call myself an entertainer. As a kid, I thought I wanted to be an airline pilot, but then I realised I liked the men in the outfits and the actual outfits, so I knew I was gay, and then it was always showbusiness. My friend says whenever his mother sees you on TV, she says: Hes so handsome I cant believe hes gay! (Laughs) With Brad Pitt you dont say: I cant believe hes married! Why does being gay mean women cant fancy me and find me sexy? Its like an off-limit zone. Well, listen honey, never say never. You gotta be open to everything! I get up to move my car in my pyjamas with a sweatshirt on to beat the traffic warden. Im not going to change... Television What To Watch TX Body No Indent. TX Body No Indent. Sometimes its a watchable guilty pleasure, other times as with this series three finale its bastardised history is a turn-off. Joss Stone isnt completely terrible as Anne Of Cleves... but, why? And doesnt Catherine Howard, whose turn it is now, have waaay too blonde hair? While the King is extricating himself from the former to bonk the latter, Cromwell is up for the chop, which makes for really grisly viewing.
