D Thursday, September 24, 2009 METRO 11 The stars you love to love... the stars you love to hate New Sugababe: Rejection spurred me on for success N ew Sugababe Jade Ewan has revealed her determination to hit the big time after the heartache of twice being dumped by record labels. The 21-year- old who this week replaced Keisha Buchanan in the girl group said her road to stardom had not been easy. I just knew from being a teenager all I wanted to be was a star, she said. She thought shed cracked it after putting pen to paper on two record deals, including one with Sony, before she was ditched. They pretended to be my friends and then suddenly out of the blue an office assistant called me up and said it was over. I heard nothing more, she told me in an exclusive chat with Metro. I was so miserable, I tried everything afterwards and worked as a receptionist but I thought there is no way I can do this for the rest of my life. As our pictures show Ewan is settling into her new role well. She confidently strutted her stuff in a steamy video shoot with bandmates Amelle Berrabah and Heidi Range in LAs Santa Clarita desert just 48 hours after joining the gang. And other pop stars should watch out she is not afraid to ruffle a few feathers. I dont really like Lily Allen. Shes not that talented and shes always slagging people off which seems unnecessary, she claimed. Meanwhile, former Sugababe Mutya Beuna has called for the band to change their name after Buchanan the sole original member controversially quit. Obviously, Keisha being the original that was left out of the band, her leaving doesnt make it Sugababes, said 24-year-old Buena, who left the band in 2005 to persue a solo career and has since appeared on Celebrity Big Brother. In 1963, Lewis Morley photographed Christine Keeler in this pose and it helped bring down a government minister. The Saturdays are unlikely to follow in her footsteps in that respect but they do they look just as good with only chairs to protect their modesty. Oh, and Samsung Genio Touch mobile phones. Sitting very pretty Born to be a star: Jade Ewan shoots a music video in Los Angeles less than 48 hours after joining the band Picture: Splash We have a feeling Joe Calzaghe and dance partner Kristina Rihanoff may be doing more than practising the cha-cha-cha together. The Strictly Come Dancing pair have been caught in a clinch at her birthday party, where the ex-boxer put on a very touchy-feely show in front of guests. Our spy at the London venue said the world champion could not keep his hands off Rihanoff.
