D Wednesday, September 23, 2009 METRO Amelle: Tired of putting up a front AMELLE Berrabah was tired of putting up a front over her fraught relationship with exiting Sugababe Keisha Buchanan, as Berrabah left and then rejoined the group. The 25- year-old went into hiding last week after a row with Keisha, 24, who was accused of being a bully. Amelle was over it and had enough and was basically tired of putting up a front, a source said. She didnt want to stand for Keishas behaviour any more. Buchanan was seen in tears hours after it was announced she was also leaving the group on Monday. Defending herself on Twitter, she said: I would like to state that there were no arguments, bullying or anything of the sort that led to this. Eurovision contestant Jade Ewen is expected to replace Buchanan. Sugababes were not so very sweet Beat it: simultaneous global screenings of This Is It film THIS IS IT, the film documenting Michael Jacksons final months of rehearsals at Londons O2, will have at least 15 simultaneous premieres around the world. BY DAMON WAKE How could anyone let them die off? Wildlife expert says we should pull the plug on pandas ANGER was mounting last night over a widlife experts controversial view that pandas should be allowed to die out. BBC wildlife expert Chris Packham said yester- day said the mammals had gone down an evolu- tionary cul-de-sac and should be allowed to be- come extinct with a degree of dignity. Instead of pouring millions of euro into saving T-shirt animals like the panda, Packham told Ra- dio Times magazine, we should concentrate on pro- tecting the worlds biodiversity hotspots. Pandas are my frequent whipping boy, he told the magazine. Heres a species that, of its own accord, has gone down an evolutionary cul-de-sac. Its not a strong species. Unfortunately its big and cute and its a symbol of the WWF and we pour millions... into panda conservation. I reckon we should pull the plug. Let them go, with a degree of dignity. It is not the first time Packham has called time on the bamboo-eaters in May he said there was no room on the planet for large mammals like tigers, rhinos and pandas, and they should be allowed to go the way of woolly mammoths. But the WWFs Mark Wright said the organisa- tion remained committed to panda conservation. Chris has taken an unhelpful position. Giant pan- das can function and survive perfectly well if theyre given space to do so which is exactly what were working to achieve, he said. They are no more in an evolutionary cul-de-sac than a blue whale that only eats krill. We agree that conservation work does involve some extremely hard decisions about how to spend limited resources. WWF chooses to work in areas that are rich in biodiversity and under threat, he concluded.
