The substitute slipped a superb pass from Ryan Giggs in the sixth minute of stoppage time beyond Shay Given to send seething Manchester City to a contentious defeat. It was a heartbreaking blow for Mark Hughes team as they had three times forced their way back on to level terms after United had edged their way in front. The drama left City boss Hughes furiously demanding to know how referee MartinAtkinson had managed to allow so much additional time. City thought they had battled their way to a precious point when Craig Bellamy pounced on an error from Rio Ferdinand before outsprinting the England defender and scoring from a tight angle with just a minute left in a pulsating affair. United had taken the lead in just the second minute when Wayne Rooney gleefully swept United ahead. But City were soon level after a terrible mistake from Ben Foster. He clearly felt a wayward pass from Joleon Lescott would run into his area but former team-mate Carlos Tevez nicked the ball away from the goal- keepers grasp and teed up Gareth Barry, who finished coolly. United regained the lead just three minutes after the break as Darren Fletcher rose above Barry to power home a curling cross from Giggs. Yet, just as the hosts looked set to take control, with Park Ji-Sung and Giggs going close, Bellamy collected a short pass from Tevez, cut inside John OShea and fired into the top corner from 20 yards. Fletcher then thought he had won it as he powered home a second header, again from a Giggs cross, ten minutes from time. But the suicidal tendencies in the United ranks returned with the gaffe from Ferdinand, only for Owen to let him off the hook with a fine finish. Saha helps Everton to easy victory eVeRtOn 3 BLacKBuRn 0 EvErton showed their goal spree against AEK Athens was no fluke as they picked up their second home win in four days and bagged three Premier League points against Blackburn at Goodison Park yesterday. Louis Saha put his red card in the Europa League victory over the Greek side behind him by scoring either side of the break and Joseph Yobo added to his strike on thursday night with the goal which killed off rovers lingering hopes. toffees boss David Moyes, who was delighted his team took their momentum from Europe into the game, said: I think Saha is a terrific player and right up there with the best Ive ever worked with. With the quality of the players we have were much better than weve shown so far. Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce admitted: We let ourselves down on set-pieces and gave Everton an easy victory. And Benitez said: It is too early to talk about him winning the Golden Boot, he has to keep playing at this level and we will see. When we signed him, we had some names but we needed a player with the qualities to play in England, someone with the right mentality, someone young and keen to learn. torres was the perfect answer. He can be good in the air, it depends on the delivery of the cross. torres deflected much of the praise on to substitute ryan Babel, whose fine cross created the third goal. Babel has appeared unsettled in recent months but torres insists the Holland forwards quality is appreciated by his team-mates. Everyone knows ryan is a fantastic player, said torres. He played on the right wing and he gave me a fantastic cross which was easy for me to attack the ball and score. Its thanks to him I could score the goal to win it for us. CELTIC manager Tony Mowbray experienced a sense of deja vu as his side struggled to their late win over Hearts at Parkhead which took them above Old Firm rivals Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. The Hoops had slipped up at home last week when they could only draw 1-1 with Dundee United after the Light Blues had drawn the day before at Motherwell. The Ibrox men drew a blank at Kilmarnock on Saturday but in the dying stages of an exciting game at Parkhead, with Chris Killens header having levelled Suso Santanas early opener and substitute Niall McGinn denied a penalty claim when he appeared to be chopped down by Lee Wallace, it looked like Mowbrays side would come up short again. However, defender Glenn Loovens dramatically headed in the winner three minutes into added time to take the Hoops two points clear. Mowbray said: I think there was a little bit of deja vu from the Dundee United game last week. We concede a goal early in the game, we go chasing and we had another controversial penalty decision at the death that didnt go our way. But thankfully we didnt need it and we got the winner.
