Theres no way I would make it to all the shows without a car to shuttle me around. If you can afford it, get a taxi. What to avoid: Dehydration and uncomfortable shoes. Catwalk shows not to miss: Burberry, Pringle, Christopher Kane, Luella, Erdem and Marios Schwab. After-show parties youll be attending: Burberry, Topshop, Luella and Jonathan Saunders. Fashion Week survival tip: Be patient when shows run late, invest in some fabulous shoes that wont kill your feet and enjoy the show music. O n-Schedule shows such as Vivienne Westwood Red Label and Erdem may grab all the headlines, but its the Off- Schedule shows that get everyone talking as the graduates and emerging talent showcase their collections. n Ramn Gurillo Spanish knitwear designer Ramn Gurillo was educated at Barreira Art and Design School and School of Arts and Crafts Valencia. He moved to London to start his own design business but his garments remain influenced by the craftsmanship and traditions of his native Valencia, as well as the many places hes travelled, including Cuba, Peru and India. His S/S10 collection (main picture) is inspired by an urban Mediterranean woman and consists of cashmere knitwear, light summer coats, knit tank dresses, wool minis, tanks and skinny trousers made in crpe. The colour palette is bright whites, creams and caramels with some black and petrol grey. He will be showing on September 19 with fashion house On/Off. n Joanna Vanderpuije Fashion and textile designer Joanna Vanderpuije graduated from Londons Central Saint Martins School of Art and Design and has worked for Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Saunders and Eley Kishimoto, and has recently designed prints for Diane von Furstenberg. Her A/ W09 capsule collection for University featured beautifully offbeat hand- drawn screen prints and her S/S10 collection is inspired by photographer Helmut Newton, mark-making (the process of applying pencil to paper) and Ikat (the style of weaving using a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye), all fused together with a deliciously knowing reinvented 1980s influence. Her collection is part of the On/Off Presents show on September 18. n Romeo Pires Design duo Sergio Pires and Nicholas Humphrey made their debut on the London catwalk in February but received little exposure. Pires studied fashion in So Paulo and moved to London to study textile design where he met Humphrey at Guildhall University and formed the label Romeo Pires. Obsessed with paradoxes, the juxtaposition of fabrics is commonplace in their work. Both Anglo-Brazilian, they draw a lot of inspiration from Brazil, with vivid colours and feminine fabrics (see below, left). Their S/S10 collection is called Two Worlds And In Between and analyses the change of lifestyle and the concept of women at the beginning of the 20th century. They will be showing Off-Schedule on September 22. n Iris Van Herpen Dutch designer Iris van Herpens avant-garde take on fashion shows her flair for couture. After graduating from the ArtEZ Institute of the Arts in Holland, she went to work under Viktor & Rolf and Alexander McQueen. While designing for Claudy Jongstra, she learned to draw inspiration from interiors, architecture and industrial designs and is now recognised for integrating unusual materials into her creations. Having presented at Amsterdam and Tokyo Fashion Weeks her S/S10 Radiation Invasion collection focuses on the bodys movement and the radiations and waves that surround it.
