In an effort to make amends to her husband for the intrusion of her alter egos flirtatious teenager T, boring housewife Alice and foul-mouthed Vietnam veteran Buck Tara plans a romantic dinner, but Buck reappears, making things go a little less than perfect. Toni Collette (pictured) excels in her multiple roles. Surviving The Recession: Stories From A Changed Ireland TV3, 10pm September will be widely acknowledged as the first anniversary of the global economic crisis. This two-part programme will show the impact the seismic events of the last 12 months have had on peoples lives for better and for worse. It will be strictly free of bankers, politicians, developers, estate agents and economists. Instead, we visit places which have been transformed and talk to people who are facing the biggest challenge of their lives. 6pm 7pm 8pm 9pm 10pm 11pm :60second interview Martin Paquette Globetrotting Canadian Martin Paquette is the international event director of City Chase, a worldwide competition thats part marathon, part assault course, part The Amazing Race held in major cities. Dublin is host city on Saturday, its victors going on to represent Ireland at the championships in Argentina Interview by Lucy White It is not only a race for fit people they also need good strategies, help at home with someone on the internet and, oh yes, a little bit of luck as well! What is City Chase? City Chase is a fun adventure that gives you and your partner a unique way of discovering a city, to test your limits and take you out of your comfort zone; it is about laughter, adventure and discovery. Will Chase Points be scattered around Dublins famous city centre landmarks, or should participants be prepared to go further off the beaten, tourist track? City Chase is about the famous landmarks of any city but also makes people discover new places. They will have to work hard, and the clue can be very cryptic we will never just say, Go to Guinness Storehouse. We would make them search so that they engage with the people on the street, use the web, phone a friend and so on. Currently, there are ten countries involved in City Chase. Where has shown the greatest displays of mental and physical agility? Canada are in the lead at the moment, mostly because they have had more years experience urban chasing. But I have to say that the Australians are getting good, the Portuguese and the Spanish too. But it is not only a race for fit people they also need good strategies, help at home with someone on the internet and, oh yes, a little bit of luck as well! Anyone can win. Where will City Chase launch next? We will likely have more events in Europe in 2010: Holland, Germany, Hungary and Poland. We will also launch a local race in Argentina and Brazil, the goal being to have 20 countries involved in 2010. Has anyone had a major hissy fit/ panic attack/accident during the race? No, mostly nothing bad happens to the 40,000 or so annual racers the biggest thing weve had was a twisted ankle and a sore back. But although people are pushed out of their comfort zone, they feel great afterwards having had an amazing experience! Dublin. I cannot ask for more. And the worst or strangest place youve visited? In my own country, I would say the wonderful city of Edmonton... Not a very big place, and its pretty cold all-year round. I went there one summer it was 35C and sunny at home, and when we landed in Edmonton it was 14C and raining. There was a baby crying as I got off the plane, and I really understood where he was coming from, that if I were a little bit younger I would have done the same. But as always with travelling, if you are open to people you will like the place and the people of Edmonton were great. Have you ever been bitten by an animal? In my previous job I was an adventure photographer so I went into the jungle, desert, mountains, and encountered weird animals. I have met snakes and spiders but nothing bad ever happened. Knock on wood! Calling all City Chasers! If you would like to participate in the Dublin race, register at www.citychasedublin.com now If you were in the race, what type of endurance test would be your Achilles Heel? Im always the test dummy on the events, so if Im scared and feel this particular Chase Point task is testing me, I know it will test a lot of people. I have to say, though, I dont like heights. International event director sounds very international-man-of- mystery/paramour-in-every-port to us. Is it as glamorous as it sounds? I have the best job in the world I travel a lot, meet new cultures and new people and the good thing is that my wife and son can do some of the travelling with me. But there is always a downside a lot of planes, and waiting in line at airports, etc. But it is a small discomfort in comparison to the pleasure of travelling. I like lots of places Spain, Italy, Morocco. Yesterday I enjoyed a coffee in Buenos Aires, and this weekend itll be a beer in index.html2.html3.html4.html5.html6.html7.html8.html9.html10.html11.html12.html13.html14.html15.html16.html17.html18.html19.html20.html21.html22.html23.html24.html25.html26.html27.html
