Three other occupants escaped the house fire at The Drumlins in Virginia, co cavan, a Garda spokesman said. Emergency services were alerted to the blaze shortly before 6am and several units from cavan Fire Service attended the scene to bring the fire under control. The victim, believed to be from the area, was taken to Our Ladys Hospital in Navan, co Meath, where a post-mortem examination is to be carried out. The three who managed to flee the fire, aged in their 20s and 30s, were treated for smoke inhalation. The scene has been sealed off for technical examinations. AN IRISHMAN has been crowned karaoke champion of the world. Adrian Kenny from Cork saw off competition from 32 other countries on the world stage in Lahti, Finland, to be crowned 2009 Karaoke World Champion. The Mayfield man blew everyone away with his stunning rendition of Leonard Cohens Hallelujah amongst other songs. As well as walking away with the gold medal and 3,000 from his Irish sponsors Paddy Pow- er, Adrian will jet back out to Finland over the next few months to record his debut album which will be promoted all over Europe.
